From Taylor:
The second day at cooperstrasse 3 I met a charming Somali woman, Amina, and her nearly 5 month old baby boy, Muhannad. We conversed in English for maybe 3 hours, and it continued the next day. She and her non-english speaking friends wanted to know why I was there. After I told a brief version of my story, she shared hers with me. She came to Germany 8 months ago pregnant, alone, and greatly overwhelmed due to her terrifying journey. She fled Somalia for fear she would be murdered. In Islam, concieving an illegitimate child was punished by killing both mother and baby. Amina’s boyfriend, along with her other 4 young children are still in Somalia. Amina is waiting indefinitely to be granted asylum in Germany, possibly never to see her family again. She misses her boyfriend and children miserably. She said her children are getting skinny without her care. Currently, she is taking rigorous German language classes for a chance to be qualified for employment. She takes her baby with her everywhere. He is all she has left. Though Amina has gone through so much, she was extremely sweet and hospitable. She invited me to her room for some of the best tea I’ve ever had. It would seem she had no attitude of entitlement, even after all she’s been through. This struck me. Even without the Holy Spirit, she showed evident signs of common grace. Please pray for Amina and Muhannad and their family. Please pray that Amina’s desperate spark of hope would draw her to Christ. And please pray that she would be sustained to care for Muhannad. Thank y’all for all your prayers.
